Learn to Chant Torah

Join Cantor Sarah Myerson for weekly Torah chanting classes. You’ll be chanting Torah with joy before you know it!

Building Blocks: Beginner Level Six-Week Course

Mondays, 6:30pm and/or Thursdays, 6:30pm

Mondays Thursdays
November 1 November 4
November 8 November 11
November 15 November 18
November 22 December 2
November 29 December 9
December 6 December 16

The Building Blocks six-week course is perfect for beginners who have never studied Torah trope (cantillation), as well as those who might have learned some trope a long time ago and want to start afresh.

We’ll learn a method for turning those squiggly markings in and around the Hebrew text into easily identifiable music symbols, and we’ll work on chanting simple Torah verses from each week’s Torah parashah (portion).

By the end of this six-week course, participants will be able to prepare a short aliyah, and will be encouraged to participate in our winter or early Spring Shabbat morning services!

The same class will be taught on Monday and Thursday evenings each week, so come to either or both sessions.
