Volunteer to Staff the Brooklyn Heights Synagogue Shelter
For three weeks each year volunteers from Kane Street staff the Brooklyn Heights Synagogue Shelter, preparing a meal or staying overnight in pairs with approximately 10 male guests. The Shelter, located in the Synagogue basement, is very safe, clean and warm, and volunteers have found the Shelter stay to be an extremely gratifying and eye-opening experience. It is also, of course, an enormous Mitzvah, and affords another night of dignity and security for the men.
If staying over, you can come with a friend, or we will schedule your stay with another Kane Street volunteer. A number of volunteers are parents who team up with teenage children. If you can help, either by cooking or staying overnight, or if you have any questions about volunteering, please contact Bronwen Hasket. We still need overnight volunteers for the following dates: December 24, 25, 29, 30 (one spot) , 31, and January 1, and cooking volunteers for December 24 and January 1.
This is a great opportunity to represent the Kane Street community while directly supporting our neighbors most in need. Please join us.
