Funeral Service for Frederick Terna, z”l

Fred Terna, zichrono livracha—husband, father, artist, beloved member of Kane Street, and survivor of the Shoah—passed away on December 8, 2022 (15 Kislev 5783).
Below is a recording of the funeral service, which took place in Kane Street’s Sanctuary on December 11, 2022.

Fred was the beloved husband of Dr. Rebecca Shiffman, and father of Daniel Terna (Tara Ramadan). He lived a remarkable life, about which you can read in Painting Resilience, written by Kane Street’s own Julia Mayer, ar by exploring Fred’s art. Fred was a model for us all and will be missed beyond measure.

Donations may be made in his memory to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, D.C., or to the Museum of Jewish Heritage in Battery Park.

We pray for the nehama (comfort and consolation) of Rebecca, Daniel, Tara, and all of Fred’s loved ones, and that his memory will forever be a blessing to them and to the numerous people whose lives he touched.
