B'nei Mitzvah Tutor

Melissa Zimmerman

(she/her)

Melissa Zimmerman has been a B’nei Mitzvah tutor for over fifteen years. She grew up on Long Island, where she attended Solomon Schechter Day School and was active in her synagogue, the Huntington Jewish Center.

Melissa graduated with a BA in Theatre, and a Musical Theatre Certificate from Northwestern University, and uses this skillset as a teacher, officiant, service leader and tutor. Melissa takes pride in coaching young adults in the skill of reading texts, chanting melodies and taking on the responsibilities that have been part of Judaism for countless generations.

In addition to her professional Jewish life, Melissa performs on stage from time to time, sings with a Christmas caroling company every holiday season, and has her own cupcake business. Melissa lives in Brooklyn Heights with her fiancé and Boston Terrier. When she’s not at Kane Street, she enjoys seeing shows, exploring the many neighborhoods of this wonderful city, and seeking out the best pastries Brooklyn has to offer.
