The Bronfman Youth Fellowships in Israel

BFYI is a program for outstanding North American Jewish students of all backgrounds who will enter the twelfth grade of High School in the Fall of 2016. The goal is to help talented youth of today understand the whole spectrum of the Jewish people and challenges of the Jewish future. Fellows spend five weeks in Israel (June 28, 2016 to August 3, 2016), immersed in an intensive exploration of Jewish texts, pluralism and social responsibility. They learn from Jewish educators, political leaders, and prominent cultural figures representing a broad range of Jewish experience.

The program is fully funded and merit-based. Fellows are chosen to reflect a diversity of the Jewish community, and so represent the whole spectrum, from those who are religiously observant to those who are only marginally affiliated with Judaism. No Jewish educational background is required for eligibility. BYFI looks for “applicants who have shown themselves to be outstanding individuals in leadership, character and academics.”

For information and applications, please visit www.bronfman.org Applications are due by January 6, 2016. For more information, or to speak with local students who are former Bronfman Youth Fellows, please contact Rabbi Sam Weintraub.
