Our Jewish Life presents:Garden of Eden Revisited: Discussion led by Gloria Blumenthal |
As we begin the reading of the Torah once again on Sim?at Torah, we encounter our biblical myths of origins related to the creation of humans. We know these stories by heart. But do we know if they are the simple biblical text or inclusive of other images? In this workshop we will look closely at the creation of humanity in Genesis Chapters 1 and 2 and at what happens in Chapter 3 in the Garden of Eden. We will explore how the events of creation and its aftermath are interpreted by the rabbis in an early midrash.
A short reception, sponsored by the Hazak Group will precede the discussion. |
