Rabbi Paul Resnick will join Kane Street Synagogue as Interim Rabbi

Rabbi Paul Resnick

June 28, 2021

We are delighted to confirm that on June 24, 2021 at the Annual Meeting of Congregation Baith Israel Anshei Emes, also known as Kane Street Synagogue, Rabbi Paul Resnick was elected as our Interim Rabbi for the coming year.

Rabbi Resnick will formally begin serving in this role on August 1, but he has already visited the shul on a number of occasions, and has been meeting with lay leaders and staff in order to get to know the Kane Street community, discuss High Holiday planning, and familiarize himself with our operations.

As the former director of Camp Ramah in the Berkshires for 25 years, Rabbi Resnick previously brought his extensive experience as a manager, strategic thinker, and relationship builder to Congregation B’nei Israel in Millburn, NJ, and to Hewlett East Rockaway Jewish Center, where he served as Interim Rabbi in 2019-2020 and in 2020-2021, respectively.

The Officers and Trustees of the Board, as well as the members of the Rabbi Search Committee, believe Rabbi Resnick will work very effectively with our staff and lay leadership to help Kane Street emerge from this exceedingly difficult year as a stronger, more cohesive community, ready for our next chapter. We know that our community will enjoy getting to know him, and he is eager to get to know the community. During August, we will be organizing several meet-and-greets, so he can begin to get to know members of the Congregation.

Under our agreement with Rabbi Resnick, he will serve as our full-time rabbi for one year. On Shabbat and holidays, he will stay overnight in Brooklyn. In addition, he will be present at the shul two or three weekdays each week. When he is not in Brooklyn, Rabbi Resnick will work remotely from his home in Teaneck. He will be off one Shabbat a month to spend time in his home community, but these weekends will be scheduled so that he is present at Kane Street for lifecycle events.

Thank you for your support of Rabbi Resnick’s appointment. May we all go from strength to strength.
