Candle Lighting
Blessings

Before kindling the Hanukkah lights on the first night of Hanukkah (or if you're kindling the Hanukkah lights for the first time this year), recite all three blessings. On every subsequent night only the first two are recited.

בָּרוּךְ אַתָּה יי אֱלוֹהֵינוּ מֶלֶךְ הָעוֹלָם
אֲשֶׁר קִידְשָׁנו בְּמִצוֹתָיו וְצִיוָּנוּ
לְהַדְלִיק נֵר שֶׁל חַנֻכָה

Ba-rukh A-tah Ado-nai E-lo-he-nu Me-lekh ha-olam
a-sher ki-de-sha-nu be-mitz-vo-tav ve-tzi-va-nu
le-had-lik ner shel Ha-nu-kah

Praised are You, Lord, Our God, Sovereign of the universe,
who makes us holy through blessings
and commands us to light the Hanukkah candles.

בָּרוּךְ אַתָּה יי אֱלוֹהֵינוּ מֶלֶךְ הָעוֹלָם
שֶׁעָשָׂה נִסִּים לַאֲבוֹתֵינוּ
בַּיָּמִים הָהֵם בַּזְּמַן הַזֶּה

Ba-rukh A-tah Ado-nai E-lo-he-nu Me-lekh ha-olam
she-a-sa ni-sim la-avo-te-nu
ba-ya-mim ha-hem baz-man ha-zeh

Praised are You, Lord, Our God, Sovereign of the universe,
who did wondrous things for
our ancestors in former times during this season.

Recited only on the first night (or the first time lighting this Hanukkah):

בָּרוּךְ אַתָּה יי אֱלוֹהֵינוּ מֶלֶךְ הָעוֹלָם
שֶׁהֶחֱיָּנוּ, וְקִיְּמָנוּ וְהִגִּיָּענוּ
לַזְּמַן הַזֶּה

Ba-rukh A-tah Ado-nai E-lo-he-nu Me-lekh ha-olam
she-heh-ya-nu ve-ki-yi-ma-nu ve-higi-a-nu
laz-man ha-zeh.

Praised are You, Lord, Our God, Sovereign of the universe,
who keeps us alive, sustains us,
and brought us to this season.
