Membership
At Kane Street we form a Kehilla K’dosha—a sacred and caring community. We support each other b’eit yagon uv’eit simcha—at trying times and at joyous times. Our members share their celebrations, lives, and dreams together. Within the overheated and frenzied environment of New York City, we create spaces for reflection, rejoicing, prayer, learning, and community service.

We bring the wisdom and compassion of Jewish traditions to all, regardless of background. Within our community are very traditional Jews and secularists, families and singles, straight and LGBTQIA+. Our members include interfaith families, and Jews who are returning to their roots. We are a community where any sincere person can find a place.
Many of the benefits of membership are not quantifiable. Who can measure the worth of seeing one’s children grow with other happy, committed, open-minded Jewish kids? The value of friendships forged through years of studying and celebrating together? The significance of joining with others to support someone through a serious illness? Or the merit of joining with hundreds of other searching souls and singing voices on Holy Days?
More concretely, household membership includes these benefits:
- Tickets to High Holy Day services
- Eligibility to enroll for our Hebrew School
- Teen group and community-wide Jewish teen academy through our chapter of BBYO
- Cutting-edge, award-winning family programming
- Discounted membership dues for families with a child attending Kane Street Kids Preschool
- Rabbinic support, including officiation at all life cycle events, pastoral counseling, and spiritual guidance during times of transition
- Social justice (tzedek) programs to serve the greater community as a Jewish group

Everyone is encourage you to visit our intimate, spirited Friday evening service, and our main Shabbat morning service, each Saturday.
