Gesher Brooklyn

Gesher Brooklyn is Kane Street Synagogue’s programming for Jewish adults in their 20’s and 30’s. We began organizing events for this demographic in 2006-07, a period when Kane Street was piloting many new and innovative Shabbat programs through its affiliation with Synaplex, a national community-building initiative designed to provide people with new reasons to make the synagogue the place to be on Shabbat.

Recent Gesher Brooklyn events include: Shabbat dinners featuring a range of ethnic foods, a wine-and-cheese in the Sukkah and a Shabbat afternoon picnic in a local park. All are welcome at Gesher Brooklyn events, including Kane Street congregants and members of the broader community. For 2008, our planning committee is organizing a number of social, religious, educational, and volunteer-focused activities, including an evening that begins with Havdallah at Kane Street and continues at several nearby bars.
